I'm Jimena Cieza de León, an Immersive Designer based in London. Originally from Peru, I studied Spatial Design at Chelsea College of Arts, UAL, where in 2016 I became a founding member of the Digital Maker Collective (DMC), a creative technology community focused on workshops, education, and exploring emerging technology in art and design.

Before XR, I worked in events designing exhibitions for Google Cloud Summit, Visa, Nike, and others. When the pandemic hit, the skills I had been building through DMC gave me the foundation to move into immersive platforms, first with virtual galleries at Vortic Art, then to Frame, a WebXR platform hosting thousands of users.

Working alongside engineers has deepened my understanding of how design decisions affect the product beyond visuals. Using tools like Cursor AI and GitHub has given me a working understanding of the development side, and I've been developing my UI/UX skills, wanting to take this further into augmented reality and spatial computing.

Using AI as a creative collaborator doesn't mean stopping my own process. It means building and achieving ideas that would have taken much longer or required an engineer to realise. I'm not afraid of incorporating AI into my day to day. Learning what these tools are for can genuinely enhance what you create as a designer.
